ABU DHABI, 28 SEP, 04 (WAM) - Royal Jet, the luxury aircraft chartercompany, has announced its plans to build a new executive aircraft terminal,generally known as Fixed Based Operation (FBO), in Abu Dhabi.
The new FBO will support Royal Jet's rapid growth and allow expansionof services to include landing, fuelling, flight planning as well as aircraftmaintenance and other services to all executive aircraft coming to AbuDhabi. The FBO is scheduled for completion in the year 2007,according to reports in the UAE's dailies.
Addressing the MEED Conference on the theme 'major new opportunitiesin Abu Dhabi' held in the capital yesterday, Hanan Sayed Worrell, ProgrammeDirector of the new FBO facilities pointed out that currently maintenancefor business aircraft is not offered in the region, calling for them togo to Europe for maintenance and repairs.
In addition to offering maintenance and handling services, the RoyalJet FBO will provide conference rooms and offices on rent.
The new Royal Jet FBO will bring the luxury aircraft charter industryto Abu Dhabi to reinforce its airport as an international hub, as no otherFBO the world over can offer its range, quality and level of luxury services,said Shaikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Chairman of Royal Jet.
Royal Jet has already identified a shortlist of four design conceptsfor the FBO, following an international design competition. "Further reviewand analysis are under way to select the consultant, the announcementof which is expected to be made by end of October.
"Our goal for the new Royal Jet FBO is to be a premier private aviationfacility and a gateway to the Middle East to offer excellent confidentialtravel environment," Hanan said.
