Tehran - Production of the film insulting Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) is in full contradiction of the international regulations concerning freedom of expression, said the deputy foreign minister for consular affairs.

Addressing a gathering of seminary students, Hassan Qashqavi added that the resolutions issued since 1999 by the Human Rights Council call for freedom of expression while respecting others' rights and dignities, maintaining national security and observing ethical principles.

As to the hostilities sprked by the release of the sacrilegious film, he noted that no wise man welcomes hostile measures but it should be noted that such hostilities are the natural results of insults to religious sanctities.

The blasphemous movie called 'Innocence of Muslims' has been produced by the anti-Islam Israeli-American director Sam Bacile.

Bacile, 52, is a real estate developer living in southern California and a sworn enemy of Islam.

The anti-Islam movie has sparked outrage in the Muslim world, leading to massive demonstrations in Egypt and popular protests in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi where the US Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other American embassy staff were killed.

Following the heinous act, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a message slammed the antagonistic policies of the Zionist regime and the US as the root cause of the recent production of an American movie desecrating Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

The prime suspects in this crime are Zionism and the US government, the Leader said, noting that if the US politicians are honest in their claim of not being involved [in production of this film], [they] must bring the perpetrators of this hideous crime and their financial sponsors, who have tormented the hearts of Muslim nations, to face a punishment proportionate to this great crime.
