RAS AL KHAIMAH: H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, crown prince of Ras al-Khaimah today received a copy of the widely acclaimed environmental film, The Turtle, which was produced by the National Media Council (NMC) for showing at the UAE Pavilion at EXPO 2012 Yeosu, Korea.
In remarks during his visit to NMC's stand at the second UAE Heritage Festival in Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikh Saud hailed the film and its inspiring message to the world on the need to protect marine animals. He noted that NMC, through EXPO events, has always been interested in reflecting the UAE's civilised image and its interest in sustainable development with protection of the environment as its top priority. "The film is the UAE's gift to the world as it reflects its commitment to protecting the environment and biodiversity. NMC's participation at the UAE Heritage Festival in Ras Al Khaimah reflects the vision of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister and Chairman of NMC who always emphasises the need for forging partnerships with other institutions," the Director of NMC's office in Ras Al Khaimah, Saleh Al Nuaimi, remarked. The film won major international awards including a Gold Medal at the New York Festival's World's Best Television & Films Competition in 2013, the Golden Dolphin at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Festival in 2012, the "Distinguished Character" award at the Ninth Dubai International Film Festival 2012, and the Best HD Movie of 2012 at the ASBU/Broadcast Pro Middle East Awards.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2013.
