Qatar's Public Works Authority (PWA) will tender 23 new infrastructure projects within the next two years while it intends to shortly award contracts worth nearly USD 1.7 billion, according to a media report on Monday.
"We will soon award contracts worth USD 1.7 billion and tender 23 new projects within the next two years," said Jalal Al Salhi, Infrastructure Director at PWA.
The projects involve roads, bridges, sewage networks, buildings, and other infrastructure facilities.
There are plans to construct 233 roads with a total area of 750 million square meters and three underwater tunnels, according to the national Arabic daily Al Arab.
Salhi added the authority is pushing ahead with a mega USD 682 million (QAR 2.49 billion) sewage project north of Doha, the largest in Qatar, to be commissioned in the second quarter of 2014.
