Doha - Bahrain Telecom (Batelco) signed a new bilateral commercial Global Packet Radio Switching (GPRS) roaming service with Qatar Telecom (Qtel). The new service which went into operation recently, will give Batelco mobile users better coverage while roaming in Qatar. Batelco's postpaid mobile customers who have GPRS or Multimedia Massaging System (MMS) enabled handsets will be able to exchange MMS and browse the internet directly from their mobiles while travelling in Qatar.

"We are aware that our customers are keen travellers and demand quality services no matter where they are. We are therefore delighted to provide them with this addition to our comprehensive roaming service," said Batelco Head of Corporate Affairs Ahmed Al Janahi. Batelco now has commercial GPRS Roaming Agreements with 17 operators in 16 countries.
