Doha: As part of the ongoing Qatar Summer Wonders, the subscription rates to the Hala pre-paid mobile service were yesterday slashed to half by Qatar Telecom, the mega-festival's main sponsors. Customers subscribing to the Hala Plus and Hala Talk services can avail of the 50 per cent discount from today until August 31, Sheikh Fahad bin Jassim Al Thani, Executive Director, Wireless Services, Qtel, said here yesterday.

Beginning today and until the end of the promotion, customers will pay only QR150 to get a Hala Plus Subscriber Identity Module (Sim) card and connection, instead of the regular QR300. To get a Hala Talk connection, subscribers will pay only QR100 instead of the normal QR200.

The Hala Plus account has a validity of about one year and can be extended by the subscriber while Hala Plus has a pre-paid validity of 60 days, which is also extendible by the subscriber.

Sheikh Fahad noted that this offer was very attractive to both, residents of Qatar as well as visitors and tourists. "As the main sponsors and co-organisers of the Qatar Summer Wonders 2005, we wanted this summer to be full of exciting events, attractions and most of all, promotions which offer incredible value for our customers," he said.

"Customers can subscribe to Hala Plus and Hala Talk at any of the 16 Customer Service Centres of Qtel located all over the country. Hala Plus customers will be eligible for an initial credit to make calls worth QR 50 with a validity of 360 days for the Sim cards. Hala Talk users will have a pre-paid value to make calls worth QR 100 and a 60-day Sim card validity," he added.

Such subscribers can also avail of Qtel's ongoing promotion 'Get more for the same' by using the special recharge cards for the Hala service that offer bonus credit. The special recharge cards which specifically state the bonus amount have to be activated by August 31 to avail of the free credit.
