DOHA: The InterContinental Doha has been appointed as the official hotel for this year's Milipol Qatar International Exhibition that will be held at the Qatar International Exhibition Centre (QIEC) from October 4 to 6, following an agreement that was signed yesterday.
On behalf of the Milipol Qatar Organising Committee, the contract was signed by Colonel Nasser bin Fahad Al Thani, its chairman while Walid Kanaan, resident manager of the InterContinental Doha, signed on behalf of the hotel. The signing ceremony was also attended by Sheikh Saud bin Mohammad Al Thani and Major Ahmed Abdullah Al Jamal, both members of the Milipol Qatar Organising Committee and Felix Mayer, director of business development, InterContinental, Doha.
Speaking to the media, Colonel Nasser disclosed that under the contract, the InterContinental Doha will provide rooms to the organising committee at very special rates, where certain invitees will stay, in addition to free accommodation for committee staff and members, during the expo.
Several other free amenities will also be extended by the hotel for support staff such as drivers by the InterContinental, in its capacity as the official hotel.
Sheikh Saud said that the response to the exhibition this year has been overwhelming with some 92 per cent of the exhibition area at the QIEC being already taken up by participating companies from Doha and abroad.
Last month, Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana Co, the sole distributors for Nissan vehicles in Qatar, had signed up as the Gold Sponsors for the Milipol Qatar expo while Abdullah Abdulghani and Bros Co, sole distributors for Toyota and Lexus vehicles had signed up as the Main Sponsors for the event. The Milipol exhibition is held in Qatar every two years and alternates between Doha and Paris. This is the fifth event to be held here.
