President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his cabinet ministers arrived in the southwestern Khuzestan province Tuesday morning on a four-day visit.

The president and his accompanying delegation were welcomed at Ahvaz airport by representative of the religious jurisprudence in Khuzestan province, Governor General Amir Hayat-Moqaddam and a number of provincial officials.

Vice-President for Executive Affairs Ali Saeedlou, Vice-President for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Ahmad Moussavi, president's High Advisor Mostafa Hashemi Samareh and president's advisor for media affairs Mehdi Kalhor are accompanying Ahmadinejad in his Khuzestan tour.

The president is scheduled to address enthusiastic people of Ahvaz city within few hours.

During his stay here, the president is to visit 20 provincial cities and meet with local residents, war veterans and ulema.

The president's current visit to the oil-rich province is his 24th to various provinces of the country since the start of his initiative of bringing the government closer to the people.

He will preside over a cabinet session in the city of Ahvaz to discuss the province's problems and needs before returning to Tehran.

Khuzestan province has a population of 4.168 million people.

Provinces that have already been visited by President Ahmadinejad and his cabinet include South Khorasan, Sistan-Baluchestan, Ilam, Qom, Hormuzgan, Bushehr, Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari, Lorestan, Golestan, Kohgilouyeh and Boyer Ahmad, Khorassan Razavi, Zanjan, Markazi, Qazvin, Hamedan, East Azarbaijan, Tehran, North Khorassan, Kordestan, West Azarbaijan and Ardebil, Mazandaran and Kermanshah.
