Plectrum Contracts For 2D Seismic In Offshore Nabeul Block

Aberdeen-based Plectrum Petroleum on 20 November announced that it had contracted Compagnie Generale de Geophysique (CGG) to acquire 3,000km of 2D seismic data over the Nabeul Block, offshore Tunisia. The MV CGG Princess will carry out the survey in the 3,352 sq km block during the second quarter of 2007. Plectrum also said it had recently completed reprocessing 1,000km of older regional seismic data for the block, adding that the reprocessed seismic lines showed an improvement in data quality confirming earlier assessments of prospective areas and also revealed additional leads on trend with the neighboring Oudna field some 12km to the west. Plectrum acquired 50% in the Nabeul Block last summer (MEES, 7 August). Tunisia’s state-owned petroleum company ETAP holds the other 50%. The exploration permit for the block expires in January 2008 and three further exploration periods of up to five years each are available.
