Mina, Oct 24th, 2012 (WAM) -- Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from around the world including of UAE have arrived at tent city in Mina for the day known as Tarwiah (watering) as part of their Hajj rituals.

That Day, the pilgrims in the past traditionally watered their animals and stocked water for their trip to Mount Arafat, some 9 miles southeast of Mina.

Some pilgrims walked, carrying their bags, while others took buses moving slowly through the crowds to the Mina, for a village that comes to life just for five days a year.

In Mina, the pilgrims offered Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha prayers of the 8th day of Dhu al-Hijjah shortening their four-unit prayers so as to make them two units each, without combining them and will offer Fajr of the 9th day of Dhu al- Hijjah tomorrow.

The pilgrims will remain in the sprawling tent-village until sunrise of the 9th day of Dhu al-Hijjah and then will leave for Arafat.

Men were dressed in simple white robes, and women covered head to foot except for their hands and faces in marking a state of ihram, or ritual purity.

Hajj is one of the world's biggest displays of mass religious devotion and a duty for able-bodied Muslims.
