Damascus - Philippines Vice President Manuel Noli De Castro and Deputy Foreign Minister Fayssal Mikdad opened on Monday the Philippine Embassy in Damascus.
In his address at the opening ceremony, De Castro asserted the importance of such a step in forming a new stage of diplomatic relations between Syrian and Philippines, pointing out to Syria's important role in achieving stability in the region.
For his part, Mikdad pointed out that cooperation between Syria and Philippines reflects the deep-rooted relations between the two countries' leaderships, asserting the role of the Embassy in bolstering ways of cooperation between them on all levels.
Mikdad said that Syrian leadership would extend the Philippine Embassy in Damascus by helping Philippines workers in Syria.
Philippine Ambassador in Damascus Wilfredo Cuyugan stressed the embassy readiness to cooperate with the Syrian Government in a way that contributes to bolstering relations with the two countries in different domains, pointing out that the coming stage will mark signing many memorandums between the two countries.
