Petrokemya And Tecnicas Reunidas Plan To Establish ABS Plant

Arabian Petrochemical Company (Petrokemya), a SABIC wholly-owned affiliate, on 6 June signed a letter of intent with Tecnicas Reunidas of Spain for the engineering, procurement and construction of a new acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plant with a capacity of 140,000 tons/year at the Petrokemya complex in the al-Jubail Industrial City. The total investment in the project is estimated at $561mn and Petrokemya is planning to finance it from its own resources, SABIC said in a statement on the Tadawul stock exchange website. The ABS project is expected to be mechanically completed during the fourth quarter of 2014. The project will produce a variety of grades of ABS to support the automotive and electrical appliance industries.
