Beirut - Greek Melkite Catholic Patriarch of Antioch and All the East Gregory III Lahamd affirmed that the terrorist acts committed by takfiri groups target all Syrians without exception.

In an interview given to the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, Patriarch Laham asserted that takfiri groups target all the components of Syrian society, with the recent massacre in Adra proving this, affirming that the terrorists' acts of vandalism, murder and displacing affected all Syrians without exceptions.

He noted that the majority of the Syrians displaced by terrorism are Muslims, and that around 500 mosques and 60 churches had been vandalized, stressing that takfiris are alien from Syrian culture and that they corrupted the opposition.

Laham affirmed adherence to Syria and that the attempts to uproot Christians form it will fail, saying that those who bet on uprooting Christians from Syria and the Middle East are delusional.

He also underlined the efforts of the church in general and the Greek Melkite Catholic Patriarchate in particular to help during the crisis, particularly in terms of revealing the truth about what is happening in Syria to the public opinion, noting that he himself made several initiatives in that regard.

Laham prayed for the success of the upcoming international conference on Syria and for the safety of abducted bishops Paul Yazigi and John Ibrahim and the nuns of St. Thecla Convent.
