Muscat: A memorandum of cooperation was signed for the veterinary medicine programme by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR) with A’Sharqiyah University (ASU) at the College of Applied and Health Sciences on Monday.

The agreement was signed by Dr Ahmed bin Nasser Al Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Agriculture and Prof. Fuad Shadid, Vice Chancellor of A’Sharqiyah University.

The two sides aim to build bridges that contribute to achieving the vision of the ministry and the university and to formulate cooperation in an equal framework that guarantees and achieves the interests of both parties.

It also aims at making use of the teaching and training cadres of ASU to develop Omani cadres and to provide advice to develop institutional performance in the fields of veterinary services needed by the Ministry according to a regulatory framework and a programme prepared to achieve this goal.

The two sides seek to consolidate, facilitate and enhance scientific and research exchange in the fields of animal health.

In addition, it also aims to develop the veterinary services in terms of devices and equipment for laboratories that are available at the university and can be used to perform some diagnostic, analytical and qualitative tests of samples drawn by veterinary clinics and quarantines.
