MUSCAT -- Oman's participation in research and design in oil sector is one of the best in the region and the country has good record of launching pilot projects to ensure enhanced oil recovery (EOR).
This was stated by a panel comprising Dr Zaid Khamis al Siyabi, General Manager Oil and Gas Exploration and Production at the Ministry of Oil and Gas; Nasser Diab, General Manager of Omanexpo and Waleed Refaany, Managing Director of Society for Engineers (SPE) of Middle East North Africa (MENA) and India.
Addressing the media to announce the beginning of Oil and Gas West Asia (OGWA) Exhibition 2010 from April 11, the panel members were clear in their opinion that by holding such events the Sultanate has always shown its inclination towards more research in the specialised field of oil and gas.
More than 250 oil and gas companies and hundreds of industry professionals are likely to participate in the three-day OGWA 2010 Exhibition and Conference, which will begin at Oman International Exhibition Centre on April 11. It is one of the largest events in the region in the oil and gas sector.
Held under the auspices of the Ministry of Oil and Gas, the event is organised by Omanexpo. The OGWA 2010 exhibition will feature the strong participation of oil and gas companies in the GCC, international oil and gas majors, leading local companies, service providers, equipment suppliers and other companies directly serving the industry's requirements.
First held in 1998, the OGWA 2010 is the 7th edition in that series. An accompanying conference on enhanced oil recovery (EOR), organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), will be held at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Seeb.
"OGWA 2010 will provide all oil and gas industry professionals with a perfect networking opportunity, allowing them to get together with their peers from all over the world while learning about the new products and equipment in the market as well as the latest developments in the industry," said Nasser Diab, general manager of Omanexpo, the pioneer exhibition management company in Oman and the leading organiser of professional trade shows in the Sultanate.
