Regency International Company, a Dubai-based retailer and Om-an-based Seven Seas Company  launched the first Grand Hypermarket in the sultanate in Saham on Wednesday. Inaugurated by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saleh bin Saud al Mawali, the wali of Saham, the 45,000sq ft outlet has come up on the main road in the wilayat of Saham. The parking lot can accommodate more than 200 vehicles at a time.

Nizar P K, manager, operations and retail marketing, Regency Group, said, "We are happy to launch our first hypermarket in the sultanate. We plan to provide quality products at competitive prices under one roof.

"The hypermarket will have dedicated sections for fruits and vegetables, and meat products. The bakery section will have freshly-baked items for customers. It will also have sections dedicated to electronic items and garments. The products have been sourced from China, Indonesia, Thailand and India. We will ensure that customers get the best value for their money."

"Almost 70 per cent of the staff at the hypermarket are Omani," Nizar added. In addition to two outlets in Ruwi, the group plans to open outlets in the wilayats of Sohar and Ibri in the near future.
