MUSCAT — Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Ghazali, chairman of the board of directors of Muscat College, has signed an agreement for the construction of a new campus in the wilayat of Bausher.
The new campus will cost RO1 million. C. M. Malhotra, managing director of Modern Constructions & Trading, the main contractors for the project; and M Askari Mirza, projects manager of Gulf Engineering Consultancy, the project consultants, were also present at the signing ceremony.
With an area of 30,000 square metre, the new campus will include an academic block with 24 classrooms with a capacity to accommodate about 500 students. It will also be equipped with seven laboratories each designed to cater to 20 students at a time.
A general library will be set up with a capacity to hold around 30,000 references. This includes an IT centre with 20 desktop PCs and a book-binding centre.
Recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education as an academic institution for higher learning, Muscat College is affiliated to the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA), well-known all over the UK and Europe. The SQA supervises the teaching programmes. The graduating students will receive their certificates from the UK, enabling them to continue their higher studies in the UK.
Muscat College provides academic programmes in Business Administration, Accounting Administration and Information Management, Software Development and Computer Support, Quantity Surveying, and Construction Management. The college has a flexible education programme for full-time and part-time students. Students are able to receive an independent exit qualification at the end of each programme, making them eligible to decide on the future course of their studies.
