MUSCAT — Oman National Transport Company (ONTC) will be reintroducing all the urban-suburban services with new air-conditioned buses from tomorrow. ONTC will also be introducing new routes to Sidab and up to Al Bustan Palace Hotel; the other new routes are Al Amerat, Al Khuwair, Royal Hospital, Azaiba Heights, Al Hail, Seeb and up to Sultan Qaboos University. The frequency of the present Ruwi-Salalah route will also be increased.
A new route linking Dubai directly from Salalah will also commence tomorrow, with state-of-the-art coaches, having five-star facilities like washroom on board, reclining seats, two TV screens showing latest blockbusters, facilities to drink tea, coffee and soft drinks. This service will be direct and daily during the Khareef season with departure times from both ends at 15.00 hours.
In its endeavours to develop and promote effective and efficient public transport in the country, ONTC has made major investments of coaches and buses — Mercedes, MAN and Daewoo, including bus/coach washing plant, bus/coach paint spray booth and modern workshop equipment in order to upgrade its services to international quality standards on all its routes.
“All the present interior and international routes to Sur, Buraimi, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ibri will be upgraded with brand new coaches. The new coaches are also expected to play a big role in the upcoming tourism season to satisfy the demands of the international tourist standards,” said Majid Al Mandhery, general manager of ONTC.
“ONTC, the premier coach and bus company in the Sultanate of Oman, now strives to serve its customers by providing additional and enhanced services, in style and comfort. The reintroduction of the popular monthly bus passes will add on benefits to many customers.
“For the first time we are introducing specially designed buses, equipped with hydraulic lifts to cater to the handicapped/disabled class of travellers,” added Majid Al Mandhery.
