Muscat - Shell Oman Marketing Company has launched a new Shell Card which is expected to offer excellent solutions for efficient fleet management.

Managing Director of Shell Oman Irshad Lawati introduced the card to a large gathering of corporate executives at a ceremony held at Crowne Plaza on Tuesday night.

The Shell Card, which the company says is Oman's first and only fully automated fleet management system, features a state-of-the-art alpha system having a microchip with an exclusive PIN that is encoded with necessary information.

The card is expected to give the customers total control over their fuel consumptions with a monthly invoice and customised fleet management reports. All the details will be available online where a person will be able to track the transactions, check the updates, thus doing away with paperwork. A demonstration was arranged during the launch to explain the simple and secure method of fuelling with the Shell Card.

Shell has brought out four cards suited to different needs starting with the Gold Card, which is designed for senior executives in an organization. The other cards are Fleet Card, Fuel card and Project card.

Fleet Card is vehicle specific having details like the name of the driver, department and vehicle. It will give the owner analyses of the distance traveled, fuel purchase and consumption pattern.

Fuel Card has different options like vehicle specific, driver specific, department specific, equipment specific and site specific. This card is useful in case of emergencies.

The Project Card is a quantity-limited card, which can be issued for a particular project with a particular product and can be reloaded at the Shell Oman's head office.

Each card can be programmed according to any set limits required by the customer for daily, weekly and monthly consumption limits.

Shell Oman will be upgrading around 45 stations to make them compatible with this new Shell Card to begin with and gradually all the 121 filling stations will support this card.

The Shell Card is supported by a secure back office infrastructure and secured audit process ensuring high confidentiality and high availability of customer data at all times.
