MUSCAT — The first meeting of the newly constituted Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) board met yesterday under the chairmanship of Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Rawas.
Khalid bin Mohammed Al Zubair was elected the vice-president of the OCCI and Mohammed bin Ali Al Kayumi as the secretary and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Rowas as treasurer. Lujaina bint Mohsin Haider Darwish, Sheikh Rashad bin Ahmed bin Omeir Al Hinai and Habib bin Abdulnabi Macki are the members of the OCCI’s executive office.
The heads main committees are:
Information committee — Sheikh Mohammed bin Salem Al Rawas, president of the OCCI; Insurance committee — Abdurrahman bin Saif Al Busaidi; Banking and Investment committee – Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Rowas; Arbitration committee – Mohammed bin Ali Al Kayumi; Training and Omanisation committee — Sheikh Rashad bin Ahmed Al Hinai; Services Committee — Khalid bin Said Al Wahaibi; Agriculture and Fisheries Committee — Ali bin Ahmed Al Harthy; Economic Committee — Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Rawas; Tourism Committee — Sheikh Nasser bin Amer Al Hosni; Industry and Specification Committee — Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al Naimi; International Relations Committee — Engineer Habib bin Abdunabi Macki; Exhibitions Committee — Aneesa bint Saleh Al Raeesi; Contracts and Work — Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Al Badi; Food Stuff — Shihab bin Ahmed Al Shakili; and Oil and Gas Committee — Sheikh Qais bin Salem Al Khalili.
An information technology and communication committee was also formed. It will be headed by Nabil bin Jawad Sultan, member of the board of directors. The meeting also elected heads of the OCCI committees in various regions.
1. Sheikh Nayef bin Omer Al Rowas — head of the Salalah branch committee.
2. Hilal bin Said bin Hamad Al Yahya’e — head of the Nizwa branch committee.
3. Shiekh Ali bin Abdullah Al Badi, head of the Sohar branch committee.
4. Ali bin Ahmed Al Harthy, head of the Ibra and Sur branches.
5. Shihab bin Ahmed Al Shakili, head of the committee of Ibri and Buraimi branches.
6. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Batran, head of the Khasab committee.
7. Nasser bin Salem Al Kharusi, head of the Al Wusta region committee.
