MUSCAT -- Shaikh Hamad bin Hilal al Maamari, Ministry of Heritage and Culture Under-Secretary for Cultural Affairs, yesterday held an official session of talks with Dato Fadoka Haj Yaqoub bin Abu Bakr, Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei Darussalam. In a statement to Oman News Agency following the talks, Al Maamari said they discussed activating the memo of understanding between the two countries which was signed by His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tareq al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, during his visit to Brunei Darussalam in 2004.
The MoU covered heritage manuscripts, museums and cultural issues and exchange of visits between the two sides. The guest stated that his visit to the Sultanate is an opportunity to enhance and develop bilateral co-operation in various spheres, specially in heritage and culture. Sultan bin Hamdoon al Harthy, Under-Secretary for Heritage at the Ministry of Heritage and Culture, also met the Brunei minister. They discussed bilateral relations and matters of mutual concern (pictured below). Meanwhile, the Brunei minister yesterday visited the natural history museum.
