Muscat: Oman-based Octal, the world's largest producer of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin and sheet on a single site, has announced its entry as a global packaging supplier for high speed packaging systems, which will initially add $100 million per year of new products.
The company recently showcased its low-waste, high-performing, cost-effective and environmentally-conscious PET packaging material to over 175,000 high ranking visitors from 120 nations at Interpack, Europe's leading packaging trade fair.
Supported by 18 members of staff from across the world, Octal utilised Interpack to showcase the company's capabilities and experience with some of the world's most reputable food packaging companies.
In what was Octal's most successful trade show in its three appearances at Interpack, the company also highlighted its unique product propositions, global reach, and reliable delivery channels to potential customers in Europe and the Middle East.
Reputed brands
By focusing on the rapid growth of Form Fill Seal (FFS) markets, including fresh meat, cheese, baked goods and consumer products, Octal developed new relationships with large international companies which have shown keen interest in the company's versatile packaging solutions.
Ahmed Al Zuwameri, customer support coordinator of Octal, who was part of the delegation from Oman, said, "It was an honour to be the only company from Oman to exhibit at one of the world's largest trade fairs and demonstrate the Sultanate's research and development prowess, state-of-the-art industrial infrastructure, and stellar economic stability that has enabled Octal to be the partner of choice for some of the world's most respectable brands."
"Interpack was also a great opportunity for us to highlight the benefits of our strategic home base in Salalah Free Zone, which has provided Octal with a solid operational platform and a world-class logistical hub that allows us to deliver large quantities of PET to customers in over 75 countries across the globe in 14-18 days," he added.
The dominating themes at Interpack this year were resource efficiency for plant and machinery as well as for packaging material usage, quality and safety to guarantee perfect and tamper-proof finished products -- especially in sensitive segments such as food, beverages and pharmaceuticals, as well as diversity and flexibility for an ever wider range and shorter product cycles.
DPET sheet
As the supplier of choice for packaging material for well-known international and local brands, Octal continues to lead the market conversion from less environmentally credible packaging material to its pioneering DPET sheet.
DPET is renowned for its one of a kind direct-to-sheet manufacturing technology and its elimination of the five most energy intensive stages of polyethylene terephthalatesheet production, making it environmentally unmatched with a 25 per cent lower carbon footprint.
The company has continued to grow year on year by adopting the latest innovations and recently reached the milestone of surpassing $3 billion in sales after just six years of operation.
