MUSCAT -- BankDhofar yesterday announced the deployment of Oman's first Deposit and Bill Payment Machine that accepts cheques. This one of a kind machine accepts both cheques and cash deposits in various denominations, in contrast to traditional deposit terminals that only accept cash. Other value-added features include the facility to pay utility bills including those for electricity, water, telephone, GSM and Internet. Customers can also use this facility to make payments towards their credit card accounts.

BankDhofar customers can use this facility with or without their Visa Electron Debit cards or ATM cards. Customers can present the cheque or cash directly to the machine which will immediately scan the cheque or count the notes and confirm the amount being deposited. Transactions can be carried out with full confidence because customers can now verify and confirm every step during the transaction and receive a receipt for cash or cheque deposits.  On deposit of cheques, customers will receive a copy of the cheque deposited with account number. Deposits can also be made directly into a third-party account if desired.

These convenient Deposit and Bill Payment Machines have been installed at six prominent locations including Qurum, Al Khuwair, MBD, Al Wadi al Kabir, Seeb and Salalah. BankDhofar's Deposit and Bill Payment Machine will bring a number of benefits for its customers. Individuals can now bid farewell to long queues and waiting. They can now deposit their money or pay their utility bills and deposit cheques anytime anyday at their convenience. For merchants this means that they will now be free of official-banking-hour restrictions and can deposit money around the clock 24x7.
