MUSCAT -- The Al Fair chain of grocery retail stores opened a new branch at Markaz Al Bahja yesterday.
The store was inaugurated by Ajay Ajit Hamlai, director, Al Bahja Group of Companies, Anwar Ali Sultan, director, W. J. Towell & Co in the presence of Jannie C. Holtzhausen, general manager, Al Fair and chief executive of Spinneys, Dubai.
Customers at the new Al Fair would continue to experience the same superior customer service, comprehensive range of products, friendly and helpful personnel and a pleasant shopping environment as prevailing in all Al Fair stores.
Jannie said that Al Fair under the leadership of Spinneys, Dubai is dedicated to the development of the Al Fair grocery retail business in Oman.
"Al Fair is all set to expand its business in Oman by opening yet one more store at Azaibah in the near future," Janni said.
With seven stores already operational in almost all the neighbourhood areas, the new store will set the trend for the already famous Markaz Al Bahja.
"We want to take our stores to where the customers are, instead of expecting the customers to come to us. So we have small stores in the range of 2000 sqaure metres located conveniently in the neighbourhood," points out Jannie.
According to Jannie, the Al Fair stores lay stress on more service and lots of imported products.
"It is a misnomer to say that our prices are on the higher side because in the end it all depends upon the size of the grocery basket you are taking home," says Jannie.
"We have more than 1,500 imported products so some of our customers would like to spend more. This does not reflect on our price," Jannie opined. Omanisation of staff is another important objective in Jannie's plans for Al Fair. "Our employees have job assurance as they can be employed even in Dubai," says Jannie.
Al Fair always targets customers who want fresh products. As such, for this Christmas, fresh meat products will be imported from Dubai.
The repertoire of the meats is vast with a whole range of fowls like ducks, geese, partridges, guinea fowls; not to forget the tantalising turkey. "All this fresh meat will be imported just two days prior to Christmas," disclosed Jannie.
