KUWAIT CITY - Invest Northern Ireland is delighted to be returning to Kuwait with a group of 13 companies from Northern Ireland between April 12-14, says a statement issued by the British Embassy in Kuwait on Sunday. Head of the British Embassy Trade & Investment Section, Steve Seaman, says: "We are delighted to welcome Invest Northern Ireland Trade mission to Kuwait at a time of increasing opportunity for British businesses. It is particularly satisfying to see a broad range of business sectors represented by the mission and we look forward to helping mission members develop their business in this key Gulf market." The delegation, which has been organised by Invest Northern Ireland, the UK region's main business development agency, will be in Kuwait City (April 12-14); Doha (April 15-17); and Dubai (April 18-21) for a series of meetings with existing and potential clients. The group is being assisted by Invest NI's Technology and Development Centre in Dubai and by commercial staff at UK diplomatic posts in the three centres.
Among a broad range of industries represented in the delegation are companies from Northern Ireland's successful screening, sand washing and recycling sector. Northern Ireland is a recognised global leader in the design and manufacture of machinery used in infrastructure operations such as materials screening and recycling. The sector is represented by three major manufacturers McCloskey International, Terex Finlay and Muldoon Transport. In addition, AJ Power manufactures a range of portable diesel power systems used in activities such as construction. Many of the companies in the delegation are interested in making contacts that could enable them to handle opportunities they have identified in Iraq particularly around the Basra region. Taking part in their first delegation to the Gulf are Aetopia, McCloskey International, and Muldoon Transport. Two companies in the delegation, Fayrefield Foods International, and Rutledge Joblink, have offices in Dubai.
The mission participants have a range of objectives including looking for local representatives, qualified distributors or agents and partners. Some will be researching the market for the first time, others will be building on existing contacts and all will be looking to make new contacts.
The mission is staying at the Four Points Hotel (Tel: 242 2055; Fax: 244 8032/4). For further information on individual companies, please contact Trade & Investment Section, British Embassy on Tel: 259 4366/4367; Fax: 259 4368.
