Iran's natural gas exports over the current Iranian year, (started on March 21), will stand at 7.5 billion cubic meters while the imports will be 10 billion cubic meters, announced Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Javad Oji on Wednesday.

Javad Oji said the company will lay 1,957 kilometers of gas pipeline by the end of the current Iranian year, Shana reported.

He added the number of natural gas subscribers would increase by 250,000 which mean the populations using gas would rise by one million.

NIGC managing director noted that by the end of the year, one million tons of sulfur, 1.685 million tons of liquid gas, and 1.6 million tons of ethane will be supplied to the domestic and overseas markets. He continued the company plans to increase condensate production to 160 million barrels this year.

According to him, the implementation of Bidboland II gas processing plant, second phase of Ilam gas processing plant, ethane, propane and butane separation units at Parsian gas processing plant and third phase of Shahid Hasheminejad development plan are among the ongoing projects of the company this year.

Iran's natural gas exports have doubled since the beginning of the current Iranian year (started March 21).

"During the past 40 days of this year, the exports of Iran's natural gas have experienced a 98 percent growth compared to the same period last year," said Mostafa Kashkouli, deputy managing director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC).

He added a significant portion of the gas has been pumped to the neighboring Turkey. Kashkouli also said gas exports to neighboring countries are the main priority of his company.

Iran has the world's second largest natural gas reserves after Russia. Hojjatollah Ghanimifard, the vice president for investment affairs of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), said last week that Iran is set to issue nine billion euros worth of participation bonds by the end of the Iranian year to develop its energy projects.

"Around nine billion euros worth of participation bonds in foreign currency and rials have been allocated for different projects in the Oil Ministry in the current year," Shana website quoted Ghanimifard as saying.

Three billion euros will be allocated to the South Pars gas field and the rest will go to oilfield development projects, he noted.
