Sharjah: New paid parking meters will be launched on 18 November at Al Majaz, Al Nad, Abu Shaghara and Al Miraijah, Sharjah Municipality announced on Thursday. Parking fees starts with Dh1 per hour and finishes with Dh12 per five hours. Payments are determined from Saturday to Thursday from 8am to 1pm and from 5 to 10pm. Friday parking is free of charge. Abdul Rahman Al Mahmoud, head of Transport and Communication at Sharjah Municipality confirmed the success of paid parking systems in easing traffic jams on commercial streets.
Centre's charity boxes stolenRas Al Khaimah: The charity boxes installed at a medical centre here were stolen yesterday and the police initiated an investigation into the incident. Sources at the emirate's Medical District said thieves managed to break the doors of Al Digdaga Medical Centre and stole the charity boxes. The sources said the guard at the centre committed a mistake when he left the centre which gave the chance for the thieves to get in and steal all the boxes.
