The Passports and Immigration Office is to have a new building in Lusail District. Plans have already been finalised and consultants appointed to oversee the construction, according to the  director of Logistics and Supplies in the Ministry of Interior, Brig Abdul Aziz al-Ansari.

The new office will be built on an area of 92,000 square metres, al-Ansari told the local Arabic daily Arrayah in an interview.

He also said that preparations were on for the opening of a new building for the Traffic Department in Khalifa Town in April.

"The Ministry of Interior will also move to a new premises in Wadi al-Sail," he said. "The building, which is estimated to cost  QR1.6bn,  is expected to be ready by the end of next year."

He said that a state-of-the-art  press to print high security materials was being planned.  "It will be  the first of its kind in the Middle East."

An exclusive hospital for the ministry's employees is also on the cards. It will be spread over 192,000 square metres in Lusail District. The total cost of all these projects will be to the tune of QR3.3bn.
