MUSCAT -- In order to help young pupils understand the importance of preserving their environment and increase their social awareness and responsibility towards protecting the environment, National Heaters has announced the Coolex Pure Life Essay Writing Competition for students. The competition, which is in its fourth year, will be held for students of classes 7 and 8. The topic for this year's competition is How climate changes affect our society.
The concept of developing greater awareness and responsibility about the environment through a competition among pupils first took shape when Dr Omar Zawawi, Chairman of the Omzest Group of Companies, came up with this noble idea. Helping propel his magnanimous vision, National Heaters LLC has gone ahead and made the essay writing competition an annual event. "We always choose a socially relevant topic for the competition, with an aim to understand a student's perspective.
With the advent of global warming, climate change is one of the greatest threats facing our planet today. Even in the Sultanate, we are witnessing changes in weather patterns and temperatures, prompting us to choose a topic related to the changing climate for this year's competition", says Tore Petre, CEO, National Heater Industries. Proud of last year's response of 2,000 students from 18 schools, the Pure Life Essay Writing Competition is expecting a larger number of students to take part this year too.
The top three essays from each school will win cash prizes of RO 100, RO 75 and RO 50 respectively. The winning essays will then further be judged by a panel of acclaimed judges, announcing the best three schools to receive trophies and cash prizes of RO 1,000, RO 700 and RO 350 respectively. National Heaters Industries (NHI), an ISO 9001: 2000 certified company is one of the most prominent companies of the Omar Zawawi Establishment (Omzest) and are manufacturers of the famous "Hotex" brand of Water Heaters.
NHI has also opened a new state-of-the-art, computer-controlled automatic Hotex Steel Coil service centre to cater to the requirements of local manufacturing units using steel for their products. The company also manufactures the "Coolex" range comprising Water Purifiers, Air Purifiers and Thermo Electric Refrigerators.
