His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday attended the premier of the best of 10-part documentary series featuring Dubai’s aviation sector with special focus on Dubai International airport.
The hour-long screening was also attended by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, along with Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority; Chairman, Dubai Airports; and Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group.
Titled Ultimate Airport-Dubai, the 10-part series, with each part 50-minute long, will be aired across National Geographic Channel’s global network starting from September 5, narrating the successful story of Dubai International. It is estimated to be viewed by 500 million people around the world.
Praising the efforts in direction and production of this documentary, Shaikh Mohammad said that the series was based on facts and reality in terms of the quality of services provided [at the airport]. He further said that the documentary should be aired multiple times in order to reach a wider audience who can learn about the UAE’s modern achievements and the innovative capabilities of its national cadres.
The gathering also comprised top government officials, aviation experts and media professionals.
The series will tackle the daily operations at the Dubai airport, featuring the latest technology, engineering, policy making, management as well as the personnel involved in running an airport of such a scale.
It will also feature airport staff from the aviation community including Emirates, dnata, Dubai Duty Free, Dubai Customs, Dubai Immigration, Dubai Police and Dubai Airports.
Targeting to handle 75 million passengers by 2015, Dubai International aims to overtake London Heathrow to become the world’s busiest and biggest airport. Over 120 airlines operate from Dubai International at present.
