KARACHI: Pakistani nation Tuesday celebrated the 136th birth anniversary of the founding father of the country Mohammad Ali Jinnah, who was titled as Quide Azam or the great leader for his unmatched struggle for independence from English rule in 1947.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the chairman of ruling Pakistan Peoples Party and the eldest son of President Asif Ali Zardari, laid the floral wreath at the grave of the great leader. He was accompanied by Syed Qaim Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh.

The junior Zardari’s arrival at the mausoleum was considered significant as he is expected to launch himself into Pakistan’s troubled political arena on the death anniversary of his slain mother Benazir Bhutto. The fifth anniversary of Bhutto is on 27th of December.

Ishratul Ibad, the governor of the province, also laid floral wreath on the grave of the Qudie Azam to pay homage

Earlier the ceremony of chaning guards at the Quide Azam mausoleum in the central city took place early Tuesday morning as the fresh cadets from Pakistan Military Academy replaced the older batch which stood guard at the four corners of the squared mausoleum which had a tomb on its top.

The government declares holiday on the anniversary of Quide Azam which also coincides with the Christmas.

People, especially children also visited the mausoleum in large number to pay homage to their leader and later enjoying their holiday at the huge green park around the mausoleum.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in their separate messages on the day have called the nation upon unity and follow the golden rules and the principles of the founder leader.
