Developer Nakheel has established a new Jebel Ali Club as part of a new, 500,000 sq ft entertainment complex. The company said that the new club, which is close to the existing Jebel Ali club site, has been split into two sections. One has been designed to mirror the old venue, using some of the same fixtures and fittings, while the other contains a new, family-friendly dining and entertainment area. Combined, they form 13,000 sq ft and are able to accommodate about 350 diners, it said.

The existing club, which is part of the Jebel Ali community village, opened 40 years ago and is one of the city’s oldest leisure venues.

Thorsten Ries, managing director of Nakheel Hospitality, said: “Jebel Ali Recreation Club is a Dubai institution and a second home to many people, some of whom have been regular guests since it opened in 1977.

“We were determined to retain its original look and feel, while at the same time broadening its appeal to a wider audience,” he said.
