Turtle Middle East will provide free glasses to school children who suffer from hyperopia or myopia, as part of a joint venture with the Ministry of Education (MoE) to raise awareness on eye safety in the sultanate.
To implement the programme, H E Dr Hamoud bin Khalfan al Harthy, Undersecretary in MoE recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Iliathuparambil Abdul Kareem Mohamed Rafy, regional manager, Turtle Middle East.
As part of the 'My health is in my eyes safety' educational programme, MoE will submit the names of students who need glasses, along with their prescriptions to Turtle Middle East, who will work in collaboration with Aslam Opticals, a press release said.
Various sessions will also be held at schools to increase awareness about eye safety.
MoE will also provide technical support and assistance through school nurses and health education teachers during the sessions, while Turtle Middle East will print educational material such as posters and brochures.
