Lost Paradise of Dilmun opens on Wed.

The Lost Paradise of Dilmun park, which attracted thousands of visitors within the first few days of inauguration last year, will open to people on Wednesday.

"Fourteen rides and attractions are ready and the staff can't wait to open the doors and welcome guests to the oasis of fun," parks general manager Paul Blunt said. "Wednesday will be a soft opening followed by the official opening on the following  day."

"Visitors will have opportunity to blast through tube slides and catch a wave in the region's largest wave pool," a park official said.

"They can also float down the Paradise river winding past gushing waterfalls and exploding fountains."

There is something to please everyone, whatever the age or mood. "Thrill-seekers will enjoy the tumble and spinning effect of the boomerango and superbowl, while those with a need for speed can take off on the speed and body slides," the official said.

Kids also have a whole new world to explore with dancing fountains, a 'wet and wild' kids' rain fortress. There is also a pool, perfect for toddlers to enjoy the refreshing water with gentle slides and a wading pool.

The park is extensively themed on the Kingdom's rich cultural history dating 4,000 years when Bahrain was the centre of the Dilmun civilisation - a place with an abundance of water, springs and shallow wells, the legendary source of eternal life.

The park is the second component of the Kingdom's $1.3 billion plus Al Areen development following the opening of the Banyan Tree Desert Spa & Resort.

Over 7,000 people from Bahrain and the region visited the park in the first weekend after it opened on September 2, 2006.

The entrance fee has been slashed for guests under 1.2metres. "It is now BD5 from BD3 last year. For those above 1.2 metres the fee remains at BD13," the official said.

The park is open from 10am to 5pm during March- May. It will remain open six days a week and closed on Tuesdays except on school and public holidays.
