Doha: The Public Relations Department under the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has bagged the first prize for a security awareness film, on human trafficking, for the eighth consecutive year.
The annual film competition was organised by the Security Media Office at the General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers Council (GSAIMC), with participation from different Arab states. The first prize winner is selected from among many nominations submitted by several Arab countries.
The winner was announced on the sidelines of the 36th meeting of Arab Police and Security Chiefs held in Algeria between December 9 and 10, and the Secretary General of the GSAIMC, Dr Muhammed Ali Kooman, presented the award and a certificate of appreciation to the Director General of Public Security Staff, Major General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi, who headed the Qatari delegation to the meeting, at a ceremony held in the presence of delegations from several Arab countries.
This year's competition was held on five themes: human trafficking, community policing culture, human rights, role of civil society in supporting security work, and awareness against car thefts. The MoI had submitted films on three themes: human trafficking, community policing culture, and role of civil society in supporting security work.
Commenting on the occasion, the Director of PR Department of the Ministry of Interior, Colonel Abdulla Khalifa Al Muftah, said: "We are keen on taking part in various purposive security awareness competitions held at local, regional and international levels. The PR Department of the Ministry of Interior has received several awards and achievements in the security awareness field because of the excellence of the films produced by us and meeting with the technical requirements prescribed in the award manual, along with using latest technology in graphics and producing the film in a non-traditional method."
The head of Security Media Section at the PR Department of the MoI clarified that the Media Production Centre under the Department had produced the prizewinning film.
