Beijing, Apr 02nd, 2008 (WAM): Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum paid a visit on Wednesday to the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall.
The six-story exhibition hall displays the Shanghai's urban planning and development, and sheds light on the history of the old Chinese city. The exhibition includes models of the planned new city of Shanghai. The model is intended to represent the entire city, including all planned developments until year 2020. Upon arrival in Shanghai, Sheikh Mohammed and the accompanying delegation were received by the Mayor of Shanghai Han Zheng, who welcomed the dignitaries on behalf of 19 million people who live in the city. The Mayor said that he is so impressed by what he has heard of Dubai and its remarkable development. "We in Shanghai wish to learn from the successful experiment of Dubai and to benefit from its vast experience in various fields"; said the Mayor. Sheikh Mohammed thanked the Mayor for the warm reception he and the accompanying delegation found in the city, and said that the relations between UAE and China are deep-rooted in history and were enhanced in modern times with the visit of Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to China earlier in 1990. Sheikh Mohammed also asserted that the opportunities are abundant for strengthening these relations further and setting up strategic partnership between UAE and China. The meeting was attended by Deputy Ruler of Dubai H.H Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Maktoum, Foreign minister H.H.Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of foreign trade H.E Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, other ministers and state officials.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2008.
