Dubai, 16th Dec. 2009 (WAM) -- Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended today part of the closing night of the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) 2009 and the award-giving ceremony of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Arab Drama Award. The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) DIFF 2009 has screened more than 160 films this week.
Sheikh Mohammed was accorded a warm welcome by Arab and foreign artists. Sheikh Mohammed praised them for their creative works in the Arab drama and movie which place these two genres of art in an advanced rank in the world art map. He discussed with them their future visions for the Arab drama and cinema. H.H. Sheikh Majed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, along with Ahmed Abdulla Al Sheikh, Media Escort to Sheikh Mohammed and Managing Director of Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI), honoured winners of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Arab Drama Award. Syrian drama ''Time of Disgrace'' bagged the first cash prize of US$ 500,000. In August 2009, has ordered a cash award of US$1 million (AED3.67 million) for the best Arabic drama production to be featured during the Holy Month of Ramadan on Dubai TV and Sama Dubai channels of Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI).
