ABU DHABI: A model of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque was put on display at the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia:The inauguration ceremony was attended by UAE Ambassador to Malaysia Nasser Salman Al-Abboudi, officials from the Sheikh Zayed Mosque Centre and Rose Mahwati, Director of Administrative Affairs at the Museum.
The Sheikh Zayed Mosque is the first temporary mosque to be put on display at the Malaysian 12-gallery museum. This follows the signing last year of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Ali Bin Tameem, Chairman of the Board of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque Centre and Sayed Mohammed Al Bukhari, the curator of the museum. In December 1998, Malaysia became home to Southeast Asia's largest museum of Islamic art which now houses more than seven thousand artifacts, as well has an exceptional library of Islamic-art books. Objects on display range from the tiniest pieces of jewellery to one of the world's largest scale models of the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2011.
