BAGHDAD: Baghdad Governorate announced that Metro Baghdad project shall be before bidding companies at the start of the next year.

In a press statement by head of the strategic planning department Nazar al-Sultani, the final designs, prepared by and French Company, shall be finished soon.

The project shall be done either by direct investment or through governmental funds.

The cost of the project is expected to reach $6 billion, which may affect the budget of Baghdad local government.

On November, 2008, Baghdad Mayoralty announced the plans to build 2-way tunnel metro in the capital, Baghdad.
