Food industries worth over 9 trillion rials account for the highest volume of investment in Mazandaran province, said the head of Mazandaran Industries, Mines and Commerce Department.
"It is followed by base metals and machineries worth 7.4 trillion rials," Morteza Hashempour said.
"Mazandaran province ranks 13th nationwide in terms of the investment index."
Hashempour put the provincial fixed capital assets at 36.6 trillion rials, accounting for 2.8 percent of entire assets of production units across the country.
"Currently, 3,405 production units are active across the province, accounting for 4.6 percent of the entire exploration licenses nationwide," he said.
Following the provinces of East Azarbaijan, Isfahan, Khorasan Razavi, Tehran, Fars, Gilan and Qazvin, Mazandaran ranks eighth in terms of production units.
The cities of Amol (578 units) and Babol (496 units) in Mazandaran have the largest number of production units.
The main provincial industries are active in mineral and food production.
