Doha :The President of Board of Directors of Qatar Meat and livestock Company "Mawashi", Khalid bin Mohammed Al Khatir confirmed that the merger of Mawashi and Al Meera Consumer Goods Company is in relation with the State supreme policy in investment and development fields to serve national economy, and forms business centres to face the global financial crisis.
Responding to a question from Al Sharq newspaper about the kind of merger of the two companies, he said that in spite of the complete difference between the activity's nature of Mawashi and Al Meera, they both serve food security and consumers needs.
Asked whether the merger of the two companies may influence their shares, he said that whatever the kind of merging, it will reinforce their financial status.
"We started the merger process by designating a global think-tank to conduct 3 months initial administrative, financial and organising evaluation study to know the ideal way of merger. The proposal of the merger will be transferred after that to the competent parties to decide on the best mechanism", he said.
