JEDDAH: Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal will next week launch the new logo for the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
It will carry the motto "Sustainable Development" and will be unveiled at a function attended by more than 400 economic and public personalities.
According to the chamber's deputy chairman Mazin Tunisi, the word "Makkah" is featured at the top of the logo with the letter "M" resembling a tree, symbolizing the commitment to sustainable development.
The lower part of the logo will feature a golden wheel to represent industrial development. He said dark blue and gold are the colors chosen for the design.
Tunisi said membership of the chamber has increased tremendously during the past few years, reaching more than 10,000. Annual income stands at more than SR21 million.
"This high income will help the chamber carry out its ambitious future plans," he said.
Tunisi said the three chambers in Makkah, Jeddah and Taif have established a joint council to serve their local communities. The chamber is also set to become the economic driving force for the holy city.
Saudi Binladin Group's deputy chairman Yahya Binladin, who is also one of the sponsors of the new logo, called for expediting the development of Makkah, which is visited by millions of pilgrims annually.
Businessman Yousif Awad Al-Ahmadi said the new logo symbolizes the business community's confidence in the development of Makkah, economically, structurally and socially.
Abdul Rahman Fakeeh, another noted businessman, said a number of development projects in Makkah are in the pipeline.
"The combined efforts of businessmen and officials will help make Makkah one of the most developed cities in the world," Fakeeh added.
