Barrak's controlling attitude tied to conflicts with in group
KUWAIT CITY: The Majority Bloc in the annulled 2012 Parliament cannot be considered a political party because it has no clear programs, rep-orts Al-Shahid daily quoting political analyst Ibrahim Dashti.
Dashti said the political movements in Kuwait always take positions on personal and electoral issues, so it is natural to see disagreements between them. For instance, a new group that joined the bloc recently expressed disappointment over the supposed intention of MP Musallam Al-Barrak to control the group, he added.
Attributing conflicts within the group to the controlling attitude of Al-Barrak, Dashti claimed the lawmaker has started noticing the negative impact of Dr Obeid Al-Wasmi on his political career since the last parliamentary elections. He pointed out Al-Wasmi is known for his faith in the youths and constitutional experience. He said there is a huge difference between Al-Barrak and Al-Wasmi as the former does nothing but to issue statements and provoke the feelings of the public, while the latter focuses on the technical side of his work.
Dashti lamented many lawmakers promised to deal with important issues in their campaigns but they usually end up doing nothing once they reach the Parliament. He asked what happened to the national unity program that many lawmakers had promised to put on top of their priority li
Failure
He said the parliamentary minority is in a deplorable condition due to the failure of some of its members to play their role efficiently; made worse by conflicts within the government, particularly among those who want to grab ministerial seats from the ruling family members and other politicians.
Meanwhile, the political conflict in the country is a reflection of disagreements within the ruling family and the political blocs, as well as the chaotic situation in Egypt and Syria, reports Al-Rai daily quoting former MP Ahmad Lari.
Urging the ruling family members to settle their disputes immediately, Lari asserted in his recent interview with Al-Rai TV that nobody has the right to announce that HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah is the last premier from the descendants of Mubarak Al-Sabah. He said, "They had earlier asked Sheikh Nasser Mohammad to step down from the post and now they are saying Sheikh Jaber is the last premier from the descendants of Mubarak Al-Sabah. Does the problem lie in the persons appointed to the post?"
On the formation of the National Front for the Protection of the Constitution, Lari disclosed his group, the National Islamic Alliance (NIA), believes the internal political situation will continue to deteriorate once the front is established.
Lari has also accused the government of conniving with the members of the Majority Bloc in the annulled Parliament to focus on trivial issues to divert public attention from more pressing matters.
He urged the bloc to admit its mistakes, particularly the violations it had committed against the Constitution and the powers of HH the Amir.
