After Makkah, authorities have expanded the King Abdullah project to cover Madinah for translation of Friday sermons to English and Urdu for the benefit of non-Arabic worshippers.
The Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques Affairs formally launched Friday sermon translation project in Madinah on Friday.
The sermon delivered in Arabic is translated live into Urdu and English languages.
Authorities have designated a specific area in Haram for worshippers who would like to hear the sermon in Urdu and English through headsets and small audio device being provided by the Prophet Mosque authorities.
Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, president of Two Holy Mosques Affairs, is in Madinah and met with Prince Faisal bin Salman, governor of Madinah, who formally launched the English and Urdu translation project two days ago in the city, according to Ahmed Al-Mansouri of the Presidency of Two Holy Mosques Affairs.
He said that Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Falah, vice president of the Prophet Mosque Affairs in Madinah, also accompanied Sudais to meet the Madinah governor.
He said that Sheikh Sudais inspected the expansion project of Prophet's Mosque in Madinah. Engineering official Mosad bin Abdulmohsin Abid Ali briefed him about the expansion work.
The president also visited the Islamic University in Madinah where he was briefed about Qur'an memorization award.
