LATTAKIA - Minister of Transport Yaroub Badr inaugurated on Monday the aviation line connecting the city of Lattakia on the coast with Sharjah, of the United Arab Emirates.
The first airplane of the AIRARABIA arrived at Lattakia airport with 40 passengers on board, transport official said.
Minister of Transportation said in a statement this airline which connects the Syrian coast with the Arab gulf region is important as it will be positively reflected on the tourism and aviation movement between these two regions in addition to what this line would present of significant services in field of passengers, businessmen and tourists transforming.
Chairman of the AIRARABIA Adel Al-Ali said this line would create new markets mainly that Lattakia has a trade port and the United Arab Emirates has a big number of Syrians and businessmen who want to move between the two cities noting the airline includes air cargo and it is expected that tourist groups would travel between the two cities.
AIRARABIA agent in Syria Khaldoun Makhlouf said two trips would fly between the two cities and this number might be increased during the coming summer to become daily.
Meantime, Minister of Transport Yaroub Badr held talks today with the Palestinian Minister of Transport Ziyad Zaza on boosting bilateral cooperation.
The Palestinian minister said in a statement that the aim of his visit is to deepen bilateral cooperation and making use of the Syrian experiences and expertise in field of transport mainly in qualifying cadres and how to implement procedures and laws in field of transportation.
