SHARJAH: H. H Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah has inaugurated the main facility of Lamprell PLC in Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah.

Lamprell is a leading provider of diversified engineering and contracting products and services to the onshore and offshore oil & gas and renewables industry The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sheikhs, senior officials, dignitaries and Lamprells customers and partners The official launch of the Groups main facility follows over three years of construction and an investment of $75 million in the state of the art facility.

With an area covering 335,000 m? and a quayside of over 1.4 kilometres, the Hamriyah yard is one of the regions foremost facilities for the manufacture of oil & gas assets, with capacity to accommodate up to 13 jack up rigs simultaneously and an additional five rigs in various stages of construction throughout, according to Lamprell.

The facility will focus on the construction of new build jackup rigs, liftboats and rig refurbishment projects. The facility is fully API-accredited and hosts a main administration building which is home to over 600 administration staff, a client office, several workshops and warehouse space.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nigel McCue, Chief Executive Officer of Lamprell, said, "We are delighted to be celebrating this event in the presence of H.H Sheikh Sultan. This facility increases the Groups capacity significantly both in terms of area and quality and technology, helping position Lamprell as one of the leading yards in the world and cementing its position as the premier global provider of rig refurbishment services." Based in the United Arab Emirates ("UAE"), and with operations throughout the region, Lamprell has played a prominent role in the development of the offshore industry in the Arabian Gulf for over 30 years.
