MANAMA, Oct 2 (KUNA) -- A Kuwaiti preacher called on Muslims worldwide to do good deeds and fulfill religious duties ordained by God during the holy month of Ramadan.
Sheikh Mohammed Al-Awadhi made the urge during a religious symposium mounted by the Mohammad Al-Fateh Islamic Center here Monday night.
The symposium was attended by Kuwaiti Ambassador to Bahrain Sheikh Azzam Mubarak Al-Sabah.
"Muslims are required to struggle with themselves to do religious duties and fulfill heavenly ordainments," the Kuwaiti preacher said.
He also warned non-committed Muslims against procrastinating or delaying religious obligations under the pretext that there was still enough time to meet them later.
The fasting month of Ramadan is a good opportunity for Muslims to abjure sins and bad deeds and fulfill God-ordained religious rites instead, he noted.
"During the holy month of Ramadan, God opens the door of mercy and forgiveness for faithful Muslims," he said.
The Kuwaiti preacher also called for disseminating the spirit of benevolence and forgiveness among youth Muslims so that the atmosphere of amity and brotherliness may prevail in the entire society.
Following the symposium, Sheikh Azzam met with several Kuwaiti students in the Kuwaiti ambassador's house in Manama, urging them to obey God and maintain Muslim morality.
For his part, the Kuwaiti ambassador in Manama told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that a genuine and correct understanding of Islam was a core point for people to lead right and sound lives.
The noble values and principles of Islam is the key to satisfactorily peaceful coexistence, he said.
He also hailed great efforts exerted by the Kuwaiti preacher in the inculcation of values of religious moderation into the youth.
