TOKYO, July 29 (KUNA) -- Ten students majoring petroleum engineering at Kuwait University received certificates here after completing a one-month training program.
At the closing ceremony last week, Kuwait's Charge d'Affaires in Tokyo Abdullah Al-Mailam praised students at the College of Engineering and Petroleum for increasing understanding of Japan's culture, society, technologies and business practices. Kuwaiti students, who arrived here last month with Dr. Nasser Al-Lathan, showed their satisfaction in the training program and vowed to apply what they have learned through the course to the future.
While expressing his gratitude to the Arabian Oil Company Ltd. and other Japanese organizations who prepared a special training program for them, Al-Mailam encouraged students to utilize the knowledge and experience they have gained in Japan and to contribute actively to the development of the Kuwait's oil industry. "This meaningful program helps further strengthen friendly Kuwait-Japan ties," he added.
Aiming at enhancing the bilateral ties, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) has run a series of training courses for Kuwaiti students since 2003, as a part of the technology transfer cooperation initiatives agreed by both governments. The intensive course included lectures on Japanese culture, interaction with local students and visits to an oil refinery and other facilities.
