KUWAIT CITY - The Project Management Institute -- Arabian Gulf Chapter, Kuwait Branch hosted a breakfast meeting on "What can go wrong when managing projects and risk management" at Bubyan Sporting Club in Salwa, Kuwait. The presentation was delivered by Peter Wilson who is the Projects Director of Fluor. The event was attended by project managers, executives and various delegates from different organisations including but not limited to Kuwait Petroleum Corporation subsidiaries and various commercial companies within Kuwait. Hashim Al-Rifai, President of PMI-AGC, Kuwait Branch highlighted that this interactive meeting is intended to provide a small forum for the professional exchange of ideas and knowledge on what can go wrong in projects and how to manage risks in such projects. Al-Rifai also indicated that this meeting is to provide project management experts and practitioners to share their knowledge, experience, lessons learned, practical ideas and real life solutions for different types of problems in projects and discuss all this in a friendly environment.

In his presentation Peter Wilson highlighted that this interactive breakfast meeting is intended to provide a forum for the professional exchange of ideas and knowledge on management of risk in projects where experts and practitioners from various sectors shared their knowledge, experience, lessons learned, practical ideas and real life solutions that audience can take back to their organization. Also, the forum discussed examples of successful and unsuccessful projects and applying risk management techniques to mitigate risks. Peter Wilson briefed that it is anticipated that this event will help audience gain valuable new perspectives for implementing risk management in their projects.

Ahmed Samir Vice President Programs for Kuwait Branch, and Mrs Iman H Al-Gharabally Public Relations director highlighted that the Breakfast Networking Session was the latest in the series of services provided by the Kuwait Branch of PMI-AGC for the benefit of the project management community in Kuwait. Under the leadership of Hashim Al Rifaai the Kuwait Branch has over the last period, made significant contributions to the efforts of PMI-AGC to promote the Project Management knowledge as per PMI across the region. It is pertinent to note that the Kuwait Branch of PMI-AGC is planning to host many interesting events throughout the remaining period of 2009. These include more interactive networking sessions, technical presentations, PMI training courses and workshops. All project management practitioners are advised to apply or update their membership in the chapter to continue receiving the many benefits PMI-AGC brings to the community.
