TUNIS - The National Constituent Assembly (NCA) approved on Friday, at a plenary session, a draft law on a loan agreement between Tunisia and the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development worth 25 million Kuwaiti dinars, that is 140 million Tunisian dinars.

The loan, repayable over twenty years with a four year grace period, will fund a project to develop natural gas transport and distribution.

It consists in setting up new gas distribution channels to the subscribers of 25 municipalities in the governorate of Bizerte (North) and 10 municipalities in regions close to the mining basin in Gafsa.

This project will also ensure the supply of industrial areas which will be created in western regions and will connect 100 municipalities to the natural gas network.

The project's global cost is worth 900 million dinars (555 million dollars) and will be finished off by mid 2017.
